As a child, I watched my father create with wood, metal and stone – it seemed he could create anything he wanted.  His courage, imagination, creativity, and determination were his greatest gifts to me.  The desire to create has never left me.

As an adult I began painting on my own, then enrolled in college to pursue a degree in Art.  After interruptions of unexpected events, I was once again able to pursue creativity, and finally achieved a BFA degree in Painting – the official declaration that I am, indeed, “an artist.”

Life is not an easy road to travel, and I am in constant search for the most effective image to translate my feelings about life’s experiences.  Painting and sculpture are my chosen mediums of interpretation, and I often choose abstraction as the vehicle in an effort to transcend the obvious and engage the viewer in a new experience.

Sketching is one of the best ways to hone one’s interpretive skills, and capture the essence of the moment.  The Top Drawers sketch group is one of the most supportive groups I have ever been associated with in the field of art, and I am proud to be a member.

For the past 25 years my journey through life has been enriched by spending it with my life partner, soul mate and best friend.  Our travel adventures have been many, and at the end of each one we are ready to set a new goal for a new adventure.  Hugh has journaled a couple of these adventures on crazyguyonabike.com .  We are avid Cyclo Adventurers and now we combine sketching, birding and journaling with our bike tours.  Touring on bike is a wonderful way to slow down and absorb the environment we have chosen to experience.
